President Trump asserted that India offered to eliminate tariffs on U.S. goods, a claim swiftly refuted by India's Foreign Minister, S. Jaishankar, who emphasized that negotiations are ongoing and no agreements have been finalized.

The U.S. had imposed tariffs of up to 27% on Indian imports in April, prompting India to seek a trade deal during the current 90-day tariff pause, set to expire on July 9.

Trump's comments were made during a business event in Doha, where he also discussed Apple's manufacturing plans in India, expressing reservations about the country's high tariff rates.
